About Us
Sheet Metal Contractors Association (SMCA) and Local 19, the local affliate of the Sheet Metal Workers International Association, are pleased to announce a joint effort to stimulate the Philadelphia and Delaware Valley construction industry, and create more green jobs for our members.
Providing Clean Air Solutions is an industry initiative designed to inform and educate the construction, business, school and government sectors on the importance of improving indoor air quality while striving to reduce wasteful energy consumption in HVAC systems. With expertise in sheet metal work, our workforce is highly skilled and knowledgeable, adhering to the standards created by the Sheet Metal and Air Conditioning Contractors’ National Association (SMACNA).
Providing Clean Air Solutions
SMCA and Local 19 are working together to “provide clean air solutions” to commercial and residential buildings in the Philadelphia area and Delaware Valley.

According to the U.S. Department of Energy, heating, ventilation and air conditioning systems (HVAC) consume between 40 and 60% of energy in commercial and residential buildings. And, as the nation focuses on more sustainable, green energy alternatives, Local 19 and SMCA are leading the effort by updating and building HVAC systems that use less energy and are cost effective.
Local 19 workers continue to upgrade their skills on the latest technological advancements, providing SMCA contractors with a skilled workforce to update HVAC systems. Updated HVAC systems also ensure that the air people breathe (including our children) is clean. Outdated ventilation systems are not only costly, but can cause serious health problems because of indoor pollutants in the air, such as bacteria, fungus, gases and mold. The materials used are eco friendly and practices applied ensure safety measures are met especially in places like schools, hospitals, banks and office buildings.
