Did you know one of the leading causes of death in a fire is smoke inhalation?
What systems do you have in place to ensure no loss of life or damage to your properties?
Join Local 19 and SMCA for a FREE seminar on designing and maintaining effective life safety systems!
Background:
An estimated 50-80% of fire deaths are caused by smoke inhalation. Many buildings abide by federal fire and safety codes, testing their sprinkler systems and smoke detectors on an annual basis However, sprinkler systems are designed to save the building, but other life safety systems are designed to save lives. And, surprisingly, systems like damper systems are not updated and tested as frequently.
About the Program:
Eli P. Howard, III, Executive Director of Technical Services for the Sheet Metal and Air Conditioning Contractors’ National Association, will
discuss:
- Discuss the laws and regulations that buildings must follow to meet federal fire and safety codes
- Present two case studies, analyzing the buildings’ life safety systems on measures that they take to meet federal laws and regulations, and what they are not doing
- Provide you with a list of a building’s life safety systems as well as how often they need to be tested
- Leave you with a checklist on what you need to do now to protect occupants in your building in case of a fire
Admission is free. RSVP here.
